{necessary information} I received this book as a try-me from Tyndale Publishers and the opinions expressed in this blog are mine alone and not those of the author or publisher {transparency} It is hard to review a devotional book when you want to use the book as a devotional book (meaning actually doing one section per day) but you can not because it would be past the review due date. I go back and read it fully as a devo once I have posted the review.  {review: Praying the Psalms } As noted above, this book is broken down so that it can be done one a day for 150 days ( the amount of Psalms- teehee). The layout of each day: the Psalm typed out, 2 pages of commentary/questions to help reflect on the aforementioned Psalm. I did not feel like the commentary was too teachy, but more thought provoking to help you work through you own thoughts to talk through with God. It was apropos that I finished this book ( it only took me two days) on the day of this movement. This book helps you evaluate where you are is where you should serve no matter how big or small it may look you feel to you ( he reminds you that is is all BIG in Gods moving picture). You will not leave reading this book the same, there will be some kind of evaluation of self. I read this book as a part of the launch team but the review is my own opinion. It is especially touching when you are going through a valley or in this case the fire yourself. In May of this year my husband and I walked away from our income in hopes to help the church we were currently serving in, moved away from where we were calling home, and headed to a place that we used to call home. I have had a spark of inspiration to host in my home which includes but is not limited to small groups and allowing (future) foster kiddos to host friends at our home.  {review} The Lifegiving Home breaks the western stigma that has built walls around the home and only welcomes to coffee shops and restaurants. The book shows what happens in the home of Sally Clarkson, which does not necessarily work in everyones homes- just serve as an image or thought that could work. Though it focuses on creativity, I think there is something in this book for families of all shapes and sizes. Sometimes you have an extra coloring sheet laying around while the kids are babysitting ( and sometimes it was on purpose) so you have to sit down with the kids and use the best crayons or color pencils available to color the extra page. Okay, okay, I love to color. There is something therapeutic to coloring.  { review Gratitude} I love all things girly, so the fact that this book came with a flowery firm cover- I was giddy. Then you open up to devotion surrounded with black and white images crying to be colored- I was over the moon. {necessary information} I received this book as a try-me from Tyndale Publishers and the opinions expressed in this blog are mine alone and not those of the author or publisher {transparency of a blogger} Sometimes I struggle with the what to say to God because there are so many things swirling whirling around my mind that I can not put into words what I want, need or how I want to apologize to God. I have found great help in my prayers when I pray scripture and pray for what to pray for. {insert  365 Pocket Morning Prayers } When you are given a good word to start your prayers with, it helps the flow of your time with God. The daily prayers are short and include a biblical reference. The prayers are daily numbered but also have subtitles when you have something specific you are looking to pray for ( forgiveness, remaining faithful, ect). I reccomend for anyone who is trying to get a schedule prayer time or is trying to figure out this prayer thing altogether. {anastasia}
